Deborah Hamouris (“DJ”) to her friends) is a singer-songwriter with a long performance and recording history in the Bay Area. Musically versatile, she performs as both a jazz vocalist and (on her mountain dulcimer) as a traditionally-influenced songsmith. In 2012, Deborah released two CDs. “Snapshots” is mostly original songs inspired by her North Oakland neighborhood and her many years as part of Jazz Camp West. It was recorded with jazz guitarist Mimi Fox. “The Green Man” CD is by The DulciMates, a folk duo with her husband, Buffalo. That recording is a collection of holiday and other traditionally-inspired songs accompanied by mountain dulcimer. Check out this article about DJ and her music.
Beth Baugh has spent her life singing. As a child, she harmonized with her mother and sang in numerous choral groups. As an adult, she has sung with a Russian choir, a jazz trio and (once) Pete Seeger. She began writing her own songs as a teenager. She soon found the melding of melody and poetry irresistible. She writes to share her musical dreams and to tell the stories that happen to and around her. She also writes for, and with, children to capture their sense of wonder in a world that doesn’t always pay enough attention to it.
