Sunday, Feb 12th, 2012
3 PM - 6 PM
Donation $10
Please join us on Sunday, February 12 when Stephanie Bruce proudly present four singers in concert on the Avonova stage. The show starts at 3 PM and the donation is $10. Singers will be accompanied by pianist, Terry Rodriguez, bassist, Alex Baum, and drummer Jack Dorsey. They will be performing an eclectic collection of tunes, some familiar, and some refreshingly obscure.
Julien Altmann is an avid violist and composer striving to join the professional music community. He is currently working on two CDs and hopes to finish them by the end of next year. One is a collection of his own compositions, and the other is a “pop” album featuring some of his latest songs. He hopes to make a career out of either his classical music and viola, or contemporary composition and singing after graduating from high school and university.
Tammy Pilisuk has been performing in local Bay Area venues since 2005. She performs an eclectic mix of jazz standards, lesser-known gems, and re-engineered pop tunes from the past. Tammy has studied at the Jazz School in Berkeley and with vocal maestra Stephanie Bruce. She sang previously with the UC Alumni Chorus and the Berkeley Broadway Singers. She is looking forward to returning to the Avonova stage.
Deirdre Fogarty-Harris, originally from New York, has been performing and recording in the Bay Area since 1999. As a singer, songwriter and guitarist, she has released and co-produced several original songs with the groups Marzipan and Electric Color Wheel, and has made guest appearances on several recordings. She was most recently featured in “One Voice”, a benefit concert for marriage equality, and before that in “And the World Goes Round: The Songs of Kander & Ebb” at Fred’s Columbia Room at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.
Kristina Plott has been singing all her life. She has performed in restaurants, cafes, and art shows in Santa Fe and in the Bay Area. She has worked the corporate casuals circuit, and once even sang an Italian aria in Italy while traveling in Europe. In 2009 she released a CD called Offshore Echoes, a collection of multiculturally influenced tunes arranged by Wayne Wallace on the Patois label. Check out her website here.
“Veteran musician and vocalist Stephanie Bruce, in addition to her performing, composing and recording career, has applied her considerable knowledge to the art of training the aspirant singer. The Bay Area is rife with vocalists who have benefitted from her expert guidance. In fact, I am one of them” Jimmy Pedersen, Avonova
